Two residents of Astana have been arrested for five days for setting off fireworks in residential courtyards at night. The young men wanted to congratulate friends on their birthdays but disturbed the peace of city residents, according to the website infohub.kz.

The first incident occurred in the Saryarka district. An 18-year-old resident of the capital set off fireworks in the courtyard of a house on Ykylas Dukenuly Street. The loud noises woke local residents, who contacted the police.

A similar case was recorded in the Yesil district, where a 24-year-old man set off fireworks near a residential building on Al-Farabi Avenue. He also explained that he wanted to congratulate a friend.

Both men were brought to administrative responsibility for petty hooliganism. The court sentenced each to five days of arrest.

"The use of pyrotechnic devices in residential courtyards at night affects the interests of a large number of citizens. The police respond to such facts, identify violators, and take measures provided by law," said Marat Umirbayev, head of the Public Security Department of the Astana Police Department.

The police reminded that celebrating a birthday does not exempt one from the obligation to maintain public order. Violators who set off fireworks in courtyards late at night face liability.
