Kazhydromet meteorologists have warned drivers about the first ice of the season: early this week, an icy crust will cover some regions of Kazakhstan, later dusted with snow, infohub.kz reports.
A shift in cyclones will bring adverse weather conditions in the form of rain and snow. Precipitation will be especially heavy in the east and southeast of the republic, while treacherous ice will arrive first in the north. Only the south of the country will see precipitation-free weather. However, dense nighttime and morning fog will descend across the entire republic, along with gale-force winds.
Air temperatures will also drop sharply in almost all regions. In the northwest, daytime temperatures are expected to range from +10 to +22°C. In the north, nighttime temperatures will fall to -1…-6°C, with daytime readings between +3 and +13°C. In the center, nighttime temperatures are forecast at -6 to +3°C, and daytime at +4 to +15°C. In the east, nighttime temperatures will range from -5 to +5°C, and daytime from -1 to +9°C. In the southeast, nighttime temperatures are expected at +5 to +10°C, and in mountainous areas from -2 to +3°C.
Recall that the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan also warned residents of Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent about fog and frost. Astana will see partly cloudy skies with no precipitation. Winds at 7-12 m/s. Nighttime temperatures +4…+6°C, daytime +15…+17°C. Almaty will be partly cloudy with daytime rain. Winds at 3-8 m/s, with gusts up to 13 m/s during the day. Nighttime temperatures +11…+13°C, daytime +17…+19°C. Shymkent will be partly cloudy with no precipitation. Winds at 8-13 m/s. Nighttime temperatures +10…+12°C, daytime +24…+26°C.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that storm warnings were issued for 14 regions of Kazakhstan on October 11 due to fog, strong winds, and high fire danger. In the North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions, as well as in Kokshetau, daytime wind gusts are expected to reach 15–20 m/s.
