Kazakhstan has joined the ranks of countries whose hotels have earned the MICHELIN Key rating for the first time: five hotels in the country each received one Key out of a possible three in the Michelin rating system, infohub.kz reports.
Three of the recognized hotels are located in Astana, one in Almaty and another at the Shymbulak ski resort.
The list includes The Veil Hotel in Astana. The hotel stands on the right bank of the Ishim and is known for its unusual architecture. The building houses restaurants, a wine boutique and a SPA.
Another entry in the rating is The St. Regis Astana, also located by the Ishim near the Central Park.
The Ritz-Carlton, Astana is situated in the Talan Towers complex. The hotel has 157 rooms and suites, along with a SPA, a pool, a restaurant and a bar.
In Almaty, The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty in Esentai Tower received one Key. The Michelin assessment particularly highlights its views of the city and the Trans-Ili Alatau.
The fifth Kazakh hotel is the Tenir Eco Hotel Shymbulak. It sits at an altitude of about 3,200 meters and consists of ten separate rooms.
The global Michelin hotel list was first unveiled in 2025, when it included more than two thousand properties worldwide. In Central Asia, Kazakhstan leads in the number of locations with Keys. Uzbekistan was represented in the guide by the InterContinental Tashkent.
