On August 27, a criminal case will begin in the Atyrau region concerning the murder of a 51-year-old inmate, as reported by infohub.kz.

The incident occurred on March 22 at facility No. 15 in Atyrau. A verbal argument between inmates escalated into a fight, during which one participant sustained knife wounds and died.

The deceased had been convicted in 2023 under Part 4 of Article 121 and Part 4 of Article 124 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan for especially grave crimes against the sexual integrity of minors. The victims were two girls aged 5 and 8, to whom he was a stepfather.

Five inmates are accused in connection with the murder. The court will need to establish all circumstances and determine the role of each defendant.

The first hearing is scheduled for August 27 at 11:00. The case will be heard by Judge Zarema Khamidullina. Notably, three years ago she was the judge who sentenced the deceased to 25 years in prison.
