Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost Brazil's recent presidential election, has been ordered to surrender his passport as part of a criminal money laundering case, infohub.kz reports.

The investigation into the politician is being conducted by the Brazilian Federal Police. Bolsonaro is suspected of involvement with lawyer Willer Tomaz in an alleged money laundering scheme.

"Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered Flávio Bolsonaro to hand over his passport. The decision was made in a case in which Flávio Bolsonaro and his lawyer are under investigation on money laundering charges," local outlet G1 reported on the court ruling.

It has also emerged that Bolsonaro has abandoned the idea of annulling the presidential election results. Supporters and lawyers convinced him of the legal weakness of such a demand.

The Liberal Party (PL), which Bolsonaro represented in Brazil's election, has recognized the election results despite its candidate's position.
