In Almaty, a foreign citizen performed a dangerous drift at an intersection, nearly hitting pedestrians who were crossing on a green light. The incident occurred in full view of passersby and was captured on video, which the driver himself posted on social media. Police quickly identified the offender and brought him to justice, reports infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the Almaty Police Department, the published footage became the basis for court proceedings. The video shows a car skidding at an intersection, the driver making a sharp maneuver and continuing with clear signs of aggressive driving. The situation is particularly dangerous because pedestrians were crossing on a green light at that moment. Additionally, the incident was accompanied by profanity, also captured on video.
Almaty police identified the driver as a citizen of the Russian Federation. For traffic violations and petty hooliganism, the court sentenced him to 20 days of administrative arrest.
The Police Department noted that this case is another example that the road is not a place to show off "cool" driving. Posting dangerous violations on social media does not exempt one from responsibility, but rather helps establish all the circumstances of the incident. The principle of inevitability of punishment applies regardless of the offender's citizenship or status, the department stressed.
