In Karaganda, over the past day, police had two unusual encounters with foreign tourists, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Interior Ministry's media portal, on August 24, patrol officers noticed a BYD car moving through the city at less than 30 km/h. The officers stopped the vehicle, suspecting the driver might need assistance. Behind the wheel was a Malaysian citizen who, along with fellow travelers, is on a round-the-world trip and heading towards China. During the conversation, the tourist was pleasantly surprised that Kazakh police could freely converse with her in English and help her navigate the city.
It turned out that the slow driving was not due to a malfunction: the car is electric, and the travelers were saving battery. The police suggested where they could stop and eat, and wished them a safe journey.
This morning, patrol officers spotted a woman with a suitcase on Bukhar Zhyrau Avenue. She turned out to be from China. The visitor said she faced a problem - finding a free place to stay overnight was not easy. The police helped her find accommodation options.
