Two foreign passengers have been held accountable for smoking during flights. The incidents occurred on the Seoul-Almaty and Almaty-Shymkent routes, reports infohub.kz.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' website, on the Seoul-Almaty flight, a 56-year-old foreign citizen lit up in the aircraft's lavatory despite aviation safety requirements. After landing, he was handed over to transport police under a report.

A similar case occurred on the domestic Almaty-Shymkent flight, where foreign passengers were also found violating the smoking ban during the flight.

"All offenders have been held accountable for consuming tobacco products on board an aircraft. Transport police emphasize that compliance with rules at aviation and railway facilities is primarily a matter of safety for all passengers," the statement said.

Since the beginning of the year, transport police officers have suppressed 62,639 offenses at aviation and railway facilities. Among the most common are 4,575 cases of alcohol consumption or appearing in public places in a state of intoxication, 2,835 cases of violating the smoking ban, and other offenses.
