At a court hearing in Shymkent on the murder case of NurAi Serikbai, a forensic medical expert provided a professional assessment of the injuries sustained by the victim, reports infohub.kz.
According to 'Seventh Channel', the court heard a video recording of the defendant Sherkhan Aymakhan's testimony given in May this year at a pre-trial detention center. During the interrogation, he spoke about the number of knife blows inflicted on the victim. 'I remember inflicting 7 or 8 knife wounds on NurAi. I remember continuing to strike, but I don't fully remember what happened. When I came to, I didn't understand where I had gone; I ended up in some place,' the defendant said on video.
Forensic expert Zhanbolat Pernebekov, commenting on the nature of the wounds, noted that the most severe and likely fatal were the penetrating wounds affecting the chest and abdominal cavity. 'All wounds penetrated the chest and abdominal cavities, damaging internal organs. There are 8 penetrating wounds in total. However, my conclusion lists more than 8 injuries, as the wounds to the neck and blood vessels are classified as neck muscle injuries. Considering the depth of the neck, abdominal, and chest wounds, it can be said they were inflicted with great force,' the expert explained.
Additionally, the court completed its examination of the criminal case materials, which consist of 19 volumes. Judicial debates are scheduled for August 11.
Recall that the tragedy occurred on January 11 in Shymkent. Sherkhan Aymakhan is on trial for murder, stalking, and coercion into marriage. The prosecutor read the indictment detailing the crime. According to the investigation, NurAi Serikbai sustained 35 knife wounds. The victim's family has demanded over 10 billion tenge in compensation for material and moral damages.
