A forest fire that broke out on July 16 in the Semey Ormany reserve was contained on July 18 at 9:45 a.m., according to infohub.kz.
The Ministry of Ecology reported that personnel from the state forest reserves Semey Ormany and Ertis Ormany, forces and resources of the state enterprise Kazavialesookhrana, as well as units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the National Security Committee, and local executive bodies were involved in fighting the fire.
"A total of 769 people, 191 units of ground equipment, and 8 helicopters were involved in extinguishing the fire. Since the start of firefighting, aviation has made 319 water drops, delivering 709 tons of water to the fire site," the ministry said.
Earlier, it was reported that due to the wildfire, 190 children and 20 staff were evacuated from the DosbolLike summer camp. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov urgently dispatched ministers to the scene. Firefighters managed to eliminate open flames the day before.
