In Karaganda, a mobile phone forgotten in a car became the crucial clue that led police to a suspect who, as it turned out, had no connection to the vehicle, reports infohub.kz.
According to the media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Polisia.kz, during a routine patrol at night, officers noticed a car whose driver, upon seeing the patrol, sharply accelerated, clearly trying to avoid the police. He ignored repeated orders to stop, only speeding up, showing a clear reluctance to comply with lawful demands.
The attempt to escape the chase ended in failure: in one of the city's courtyards, the driver lost control and got stuck, unable to overcome a high curb. When leaving the car, he left his mobile phone in the cabin, which later played a key role in identifying him.
Information about the incident was immediately transmitted to the duty station of the police department named after Bokeikhan. Using the state registration number, police identified the car owner and went to his address, assuming he was the driver. However, the door was opened by another man—a 28-year-old resident of the city, who was informed that his car had likely been stolen. Police brought him to the scene for further investigation.
It was the phone left in the car that became the key to solving the case. Using the phone number, police identified and detained a 20-year-old resident of Karaganda. The young man explained that he just wanted to get home, but his plans were interrupted by the appearance of the police patrol.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into this incident, and all circumstances are being established.
