Peter Foster, the former head of Air Astana, earned an average of 57.6 million tenge per month. Over the year, his compensation totaled nearly 700 million tenge, according to infohub.kz.
The total remuneration for the airline's executive body member in 2025 reached 691.4 million tenge, up 31.6% from the previous year. During the entire reporting period, the company's management board consisted of only one person — Chief Executive Officer Peter Foster.
However, as of August 31, 2026, leadership changed: Foster was succeeded by Ibrahim Zhanlyel, who became the sole member of the board.
Meanwhile, the company's financial results were less optimistic: Air Astana's profit in 2025 fell by 72.4% to 7 billion tenge. In currency terms, the figure was $13.6 million, compared to $49.4 million a year earlier. In the first half of 2026, the carrier posted a loss of $21 million.
Earlier it was reported that Air Astana ended the first half of 2026 with a loss despite revenue growth, driven by fuel costs.
It is worth noting that 41% of Air Astana's shares are owned by the Samruk-Kazyna fund, while the rest are traded on the stock exchange or held by minority shareholders.
