Nailya Mulyukova, former deputy head of Almaty's culture department, convicted of multi-million tenge embezzlement of budget funds, has been released. A court replaced her remaining sentence with restriction of freedom, reports infohub.kz.
The Committee of the Penitentiary System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan confirmed that after release, Mulyukova has been registered with the probation service. She is obliged to comply with all restrictions, including a ban on leaving Kazakhstan. Probation officers will constantly monitor compliance with the court-imposed restrictions and conduct regular checks.
Recall that in 2023, Mulyukova became a subject of an anti-corruption investigation. According to the investigation, she provided advantages to the affiliated LLP "Bezendiru KZ", which received eight state contracts worth 456 million tenge. The prosecution alleged that part of the budget funds was siphoned off through fictitious contracts and inflated service costs, with damage to the state amounting to 92.8 million tenge. Ultimately, the former official was found guilty of embezzlement, abuse of office, and illegal participation in entrepreneurial activity.
