President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a decree appointing Murat Baimukashev as the head of the Security Council apparatus, according to infohub.kz.
According to official information published on the Akorda website, Murat Baimukashev has been relieved of his previous position in connection with the new appointment.
Murat Baimukashev was born in 1967. In 1994, he graduated from the Kazakh Agricultural Institute, in 1998 from the Karaganda Higher School of the National Security Committee, and in 2015 from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.
From 1994 to 2009, he served in law enforcement agencies, including internal affairs bodies and the Prosecutor General's Office. From 2009 to 2019, he held positions as deputy head of department and head of the defense and law enforcement department of the Prime Minister's Office of Kazakhstan.
In 2019-2020, he was deputy secretary of the Security Council. From 2020 to 2021, he headed the Administrative Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 2021-2022, he served as deputy minister of internal affairs, and in 2022-2023 as first deputy secretary of the Security Council. Since September 1, 2023, he has again been deputy secretary of the Security Council.
Murat Baimukashev has been awarded the orders "Kurmet" (2013) and "Aibyn" II degree (2020). In 2021, he was awarded the special rank of Major General of Police.
Earlier it was reported that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made a number of appointments in the Security Council, including the position given to former Defense Minister Ruslan Zhaksylykov.
