In October, an auction will take place in London featuring personal belongings of legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, including a piano, a microphone, and handwritten song drafts, reports infohub.kz.
German producer Reinhold Mack, who regularly collaborated with Queen, and his son Freddie Mack, the musician's only godson, have decided to part with an archive of 82 lots. The highlight of the collection will be a Yamaha C3 Grand Piano from Munich's Musicland Studios. It was at this instrument that Mercury composed his solo parts and legendary hits, including "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." This piano has also been played by celebrities such as Leonard Cohen, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin. The estimated value of the instrument ranges from £200,000 to £400,000.
Also going under the hammer is an AKG C414 EB microphone used to record Mercury's vocals. The lot includes the original case and cable, with an estimate of £40,000-80,000. Among the drafts are early versions of lyrics for "My Love Is Dangerous" and "Let's Turn It On" from his debut solo album "Mr. Bad Guy." The auction will take place on October 1 and 2.
