During an open house event focused on early detection of sarcoma of the skin, bones, and soft tissues, 569 people received free examinations. As a result, eight patients were found to have suspected malignant growths, and another 28 had precancerous conditions, according to infohub.kz.
The Kazakhstan Oncology Center stated that the patients were immediately put under observation and began necessary treatment. In total, the campaign conducted 266 diagnostic tests, including ultrasound and low-dose computed tomography.
Oncologists warn that sarcoma is a rare but highly aggressive type of malignant tumor. In its early stages, the disease often progresses without pain and may manifest only as a small lump or growth. Therefore, it is important not to delay a visit to the doctor if such symptoms appear.
"In the initial stage, the disease is usually painless. Typically, a small tumor-like formation appears in the soft tissues or near the bone. Over time, it increases in size, and pain may develop. Sarcoma is very dangerous: even a small tumor can quickly spread throughout the body and cause severe complications," emphasized oncothoracic surgeon Talap Akhpanbetov.
According to him, the most effective way to fight cancer is early detection.
Earlier, Almaty summed up the results of medical check-ups for the first six months of 2026, identifying over 250 cancer cases among residents.
