Citing a translation of a report by The Athletic, Izvestia says the fight will take place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, the capital of Wales. The choice of venue followed lengthy discussions that repeatedly threatened to derail the event.
"The parties responsible for financing proposed holding the show in New York. Fury expressed willingness to fight in the US, but Joshua and his promoter insisted on a bout in the UK," the report says.
Wales was chosen as the compromise option. The retractable roof at the Cardiff stadium makes it possible to stage a large-scale event in December. In addition, the arena's technical capabilities allow the fight to start at night, which is necessary for the convenience of the international audience and broadcasters.
