A sweet treat with tea or coffee is a quick breakfast habit for many, but few consider how such a regular morning meal affects health. Gastroenterologist Tolganay took to social media to urge viewers to pay attention to what they eat for breakfast, according to infohub.kz.

As the specialist explains, bile is produced in the liver and stored in the gallbladder. During a meal, the gallbladder contracts and releases bile into the intestines, and fats in food help drive this process.

"Many people have breakfast like this: cookies, jam, bread, and tea. But what if I told you that with such a breakfast, within the next 10–15 years you risk losing your gallbladder?" the doctor asks.

According to the gastroenterologist, a breakfast made mostly of carbohydrate-rich foods prevents the gallbladder from emptying properly.

"In the morning, the gallbladder wants to empty and expects a protein-and-fat breakfast. Instead, it gets a carbohydrate one, which leads to poor gallbladder emptying. Over time, this leads to bile stasis, sludge, stone formation, and eventually gallbladder removal," the doctor explains.

At the same time, the composition of breakfast alone does not determine whether a person will develop gallstones. Risk is also influenced by body weight, overall diet, physical activity, and other factors.
