The new Geely Galaxy Cityray looks like a compact urban crossover from the outside, but inside it turns out to be noticeably more spacious than expected. Kazakhstani auto blogger Anatoly Rusev from the YouTube channel "Ruki v Masle" (Hands in Oil) thoroughly examined the model and took it for a drive, checking the tech, features, and road behavior, reports infohub.kz.

The Cityray features a rather aggressive design with a 3D grille, angular headlights, and an LED strip. At the rear, there's another light bar and real exhaust tips. Ground clearance is 185 mm, and the test car rides on 19-inch wheels.

Under the hood is a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 174 hp and 270 Nm of torque. It's paired with a 7-speed DSG robot with dual wet clutches. Officially, the sprint to 100 km/h takes 8.9 seconds. "It feels lively and quick enough," the author noted.

The Cityray's biggest surprise is its interior space. Despite its relatively modest exterior dimensions, there's plenty of room in the back, and the trunk holds 571 liters. With the second row folded, the volume expands to 1,271 liters, and the floor becomes flat.

The equipment list is also impressive for a car priced between 10.5 and 11.4 million tenge. The top GF trim includes a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, a panoramic roof, and heating for all seats, the steering wheel, and the windshield.

The surround-view cameras can show the car almost "through" the floor – the system generates an image of the space underneath the vehicle. There's adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beam switching.

According to Rusev, the Cityray has well-tuned chassis: the car feels composed but not harsh, and the steering is among the most pleasant he's experienced in Chinese cars.

However, there are compromises. The driver's seat lacks lumbar and cushion adjustments, and the passenger seat has even fewer adjustments. There's no seat ventilation, and the cargo cover isn't included, though mounting points are provided. On rough asphalt, tire noise is noticeable.

In the end, the Geely Galaxy Cityray offers a clear formula: bold design, a 174-hp engine, a spacious cabin, a large trunk, and a suite of electronic assists. At the same time, it doesn't try to appear premium – some details remind you of its price segment.
