Los Angeles hosted a gala evening celebrating the opening of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. The event brought together key figures from the American film industry, show business, and politics, according to infohub.kz.
The creator of the Star Wars franchise and his wife, Mellody Hobson, welcomed guests ahead of the complex's official public opening.
Among those in attendance were longtime collaborators of the director, including Steven Spielberg, actors Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Samuel L. Jackson, who played Mace Windu. Jackson posed for a photo next to a life-size figure of his character. The evening also drew Hayden Christensen, Ahmed Best, Dave Filoni, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Lewis Hamilton, Oprah Winfrey, and singer Jon Batiste, who performed musical numbers on piano. California Governor Gavin Newsom and former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also attended.
In an interview, Mark Hamill expressed joy that the museum was finally built in Los Angeles after unsuccessful attempts to place it in other cities, including Chicago.
The 11-acre complex in Exposition Park will house a collection of 40,000 items, including original Star Wars props, comics, paintings, and cinematic artifacts. The official opening of the Museum of Narrative Art to all visitors is scheduled for September 22.
