Georgia has experienced another massive blackout, the third in recent weeks. The power outage affected Tbilisi and other regions of the country, reports infohub.kz.
On the evening of August 5, at approximately 20:10 local time, the capital and several other regions were left without electricity. In Tbilisi, the metro and railway services were halted due to the outage.
Later, the state-owned company Georgian State Electrosystem explained the reasons on social media. It turned out that the latest blackout was linked to work at the Inguri Hydroelectric Power Station (HPP), which was carried out following previous failures on July 24 and 25.
"After the systemic failures that occurred in the country on July 24-25, certain works were carried out at the Inguri HPP, namely, to study the relevant equipment of the station, it was necessary to operate the electrical system in an isolated mode, at frequencies different from the nominal, which led to a temporary power outage across the country," the company's statement said.
It is worth recalling that on July 24, almost all of Georgia was left without electricity.
