A 17-year-old from Germany, Lukas Herrscher, has set a new Guinness World Record by assembling the iconic spaceship from the "Star Wars" sci-fi saga in 7 hours, 27 minutes and 9 seconds, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the Guinness World Records website, the teenager has been officially recognized as the record holder for the fastest build of one of the largest sets in the company's history — LEGO Star Wars 75192 "Millennium Falcon." The model of the iconic starship consists of 7,541 pieces.
The successful attempt took place on July 11 in the municipality of Baldham in Bavaria. The German enthusiast beat the previous world achievement set in 2023 by Canadian Ivan Yu, whose time was 7 hours, 36 minutes and 37 seconds. Lukas improved on the previous time by more than nine minutes, despite having never previously worked with this particular set, whose retail price reaches $850.
The idea of going for the record came to the young man after watching a video on the official Guinness World Records video channel. Lukas, who works in the hospitality industry, prepared carefully for the challenge: after unpacking the huge box, he pre-sorted the numbered bags on a table and followed the voluminous instructions. During the marathon, the teenager took only one short bathroom break and was distracted a few times to drink water. To optimize the process, he found repeating symmetrical blocks and assembled them simultaneously.
The teenager already has experience building giant sets from the franchise, such as the "Death Star" and the "Venator" Star Destroyer, and does not rule out new world records in the future.
