In Karaganda, tourists from Germany crossed the road on a red light but instead of a fine, they received an explanatory talk from a police officer who speaks fluent English, reports the website infohub.kz.
The incident occurred on Voyinov-Internatsionalistov Street. Patrol officers noticed foreign citizens crossing the roadway on a prohibiting traffic light signal. The inspectors stopped them and conducted a preventive conversation, explaining the requirements of the traffic rules of the Republic of Kazakhstan and warning about the need for their strict observance, especially when crossing the road.
What drew particular attention was that the conversation took place without a language barrier. Baglan Rakhimzhanov, an officer of the patrol police regiment, speaks three languages: Kazakh, Russian, and English. He has been serving in the internal affairs bodies of the Karaganda region for exactly one year. According to the officer, knowing languages helps him not only in communicating with foreigners but also directly in performing his official duties.
"In police work, it is important to find a common language with every person. Knowledge of Kazakh, Russian, and English helps me communicate freely with citizens, including foreign guests of our city. In such situations, it is important not just to make a remark, but to clearly explain to a person why it is necessary to follow the rules and how dangerous their violation can be," noted Baglan Rakhimzhanov.
