A 60-year-old Pennsylvania man, Glenwood Hoskin Jr., has entered the Guinness Book of Records after watching 1,207 films in cinemas over twelve months, infohub.kz reports.
The former tax inspector began his movie marathon in spring 2024 at a Regal cinema in York Haven. Over a year of nonstop screenings, he averaged 3.3 films a day. He comfortably surpassed the previous world record held by American Zachariah Swope, who managed 777 screenings over the same period.
To keep up such a demanding schedule, the record-holder studied showtimes in advance and often stayed at the cinema from early morning until midnight. Ticket costs did not ruin the retiree, either: he bought a special unlimited pass from the cinema chain. The Pennsylvania resident prepared his food at home and brought it with him, and used the breaks between screenings for walks around the building to stretch his legs after long hours of sitting.
Among the films he saw, the American singled out comedies and animated features, noting that they are usually shorter and more fun to watch with an audience. According to the record-holder, his love of cinema and strict self-discipline made the task easy, while retirement finally allowed him to devote all his free time to his favorite pastime.
