On July 19, 2026, users around the world experienced a massive outage on Instagram that also affected Facebook and Messenger, reports infohub.kz.
Downdetector, an outage monitoring website, recorded a sharp spike in complaints, with thousands of reports from various countries. Users reported issues accessing accounts, loading feeds, and posting content. The number of complaints grew throughout the day, peaking around 1:00 p.m. local time. At the peak of the outage, over 200 users reported problems with Instagram.
In the UAE, users most frequently reported the following issues: 51% experienced problems with the Instagram app, 24% could not load their feed or timeline, and 18% had trouble posting content.
Users reported being unable to refresh their feed, open profiles, load Stories, or share posts. Some desktop users who tried to log in to Instagram saw a message: "Account temporarily unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes."
Downdetector registered thousands of complaints about other Meta services from the United States, United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, and other countries. Facebook users reported that their feeds loaded only partially before error messages appeared, and new content remained inaccessible. Similar issues were observed on Messenger.
The cause of the massive outage remains unknown. Meta has not issued an official statement explaining the disruptions to its services.
Until platforms are restored, users are advised to check outage information on Downdetector, restart the Instagram app, install the latest updates from the App Store or Google Play, clear the app cache or reinstall if necessary, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, restart their device, and avoid repeatedly logging in or refreshing the page if the issue stems from a massive Meta server outage.
