Ethnologist Damir Iskhakov said in a podcast with Kazakh historian Zhaksylyk Sabitov that all peoples formed from the clans of the Golden Horde have common roots, reports infohub.kz.
According to the expert, the topic of the clan (tribal) system of the Golden Horde is insufficiently studied due to the small number of surviving written sources. Iskhakov stressed that it is important today to trace how a whole system emerged from the initial 12-14 ru.
"In the epic 'Edige', there is already talk of a 90-headed Horde, which are precisely those tribes that are known, including the Shibanids. 92 ru, I think, is the maximum number that was in the Golden Horde," the ethnographer said.
He added that all these tribes have common roots.
"But what is indicative is that virtually all these clans have something in common. The Tatars have preserved less, but these clans are also reconstructed from sources. Because we all came from the clans of the Golden Horde, we have common origins," Iskhakov concluded.
