QR code payments have long become part of everyday life — from a morning coffee to a supermarket run. Until recently, however, the way you could pay at the checkout often depended on which bank's terminal was installed at the merchant: customers had to look for the right app or use a different card. Halyk Bank explained how Halyk QR makes purchases more rewarding, infohub.kz reports.
Halyk customers can now pay for purchases from their account more easily. With Halyk QR, they can also pay at POS terminals belonging to other banks. All they need to do is open the Halyk SuperApp, scan the QR code and confirm the payment.
Along with the convenience, customers get an extra perk — 0.5% in bonuses. The offer is available to all Halyk customers. That means even if the checkout is equipped with another bank's terminal, you can pay for your purchase via QR in the Halyk SuperApp and earn 0.5% in bonuses. The promotion runs through November 30, 2026 inclusive.
Bonuses are credited automatically after a successful payment. They can be used, for example, to pay utility bills or top up a mobile phone or transit card balance.
"Today, a customer shouldn't have to care which bank's terminal is installed at the checkout. They can keep their money in their Halyk account, open the familiar Halyk SuperApp and pay for the purchase via QR right away. We want this scenario to be not only simple but also rewarding: the customer makes ordinary purchases and earns bonuses for them without any extra steps," said Kiril Bachvarov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Halyk Bank.
Meanwhile, members of the Halyk+ program continue to enjoy increased bonuses when paying via Halyk QR at Halyk POS terminals. Depending on the customer's category, bonuses can reach 10%.
As a result, customers have one familiar way to pay regardless of whose terminal is installed at the checkout. At other banks' terminals, purchases made via Halyk QR earn 0.5% in bonuses, while Halyk+ members within the Halyk network can earn increased bonuses of up to 10%.
