Abnormal heat in Kyrgyzstan has triggered a sharp increase in electricity consumption, leading to temporary blackouts in some areas of Bishkek and Chuy region, reports infohub.kz citing Kyrgyz news outlet 24.kg.
According to the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan (NESC), extreme temperatures across Central Asia, including Kyrgyzstan, have pushed the power system load to record levels. Grid equipment is operating at maximum capacity, and some transmission lines have exceeded established norms.
To prevent accidents and large-scale outages, energy workers are conducting adjustments. In some areas, temporary power interruptions of up to two hours may occur.
NESC emphasized that the restrictions are temporary and necessary to protect equipment, prevent system failures, and maintain the stability of the power supply.
