Due to extreme heat, restrictions on heavy truck traffic have been imposed in the East Kazakhstan Region, reports infohub.kz.
During the daytime, heavy trucks are directed to special rest stops, as the roads are closed to them until 9:00 PM.
The reason is extreme heat: temperatures in the east reach +40°C. The asphalt is scorching hot, and heavy vehicles could damage it.
“These measures are especially relevant in such hot summer weather, because these restrictions are aimed at preserving the road surface. Our drivers try to comply with the established requirements and show knowledge of the law,” said Marat Yesmuratov, acting head of the Transport Control Inspection Department for East Kazakhstan Region.
Similar measures have been taken in other regions of the country. Earlier, extreme heat caused asphalt deformation on highways in the Zhambyl, Pavlodar, and Turkestan regions.
