A video shot by a rescue helicopter pilot capturing an unknown waterfall in the Zhetysu region is gaining popularity online. Kursiv LifeStyle looked into the location of the natural wonder and why it is so hard to reach, as reported by infohub.kz.
Arman, a Mi-8 helicopter pilot working for Kazaviaspas, runs a TikTok account where he shares footage from his work and scenic views of Kazakhstan. In one clip, he showed from above a waterfall located near the village of Baskunshy in Panfilov District, Zhetysu Region. The video shows the waterfall surrounded by forest and mountains, suggesting a multi-hour hike to reach it.
In the comments, users expressed concern that the new attraction could suffer from an influx of tourists. "Don't show this place! It will be ruined," "Don't show too much. They'll start building a resort there too," netizens wrote.
However, the village of Baskunshy lies on the border with China, on the banks of the Khorgos River, with the Chinese territory on the opposite bank. Because of this, there is a border checkpoint at the entrance to the village, and only local residents and border guards can access the waterfall.

The village itself is located on the Kazakh-Chinese border. Thank you to everyone who cares about Kazakhstan's nature!" one user commented.
