Chinese brand Hongqi has started pre-sales of the new-generation H7 sedan, which has completely abandoned gasoline versions in favor of a plug-in hybrid. The starting price, including a special subsidy, is 181,800 yuan, equivalent to about 12.5 million tenge, according to infohub.kz.
The new H7 retains the brand's recognizable look with a vertical grille and a wide light strip, but the design has become noticeably more minimalist. The wheelbase has grown to 2970 mm, providing ample space in the second row for both family trips and business passengers.
Inside, the manufacturer has done away with an abundance of physical buttons, installing a 15.6-inch screen powered by a Qualcomm 8295P chip. Smartphone connectivity, navigation, and driver assistance systems are supported.
The main technical change is hidden under the body: all versions get a unified hybrid setup with a 1.5-liter turbo engine, with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive available. The front-wheel-drive version offers an electric-only range of up to 240 km on the CLTC cycle. With a full tank and charged battery, the sedan can travel up to 1954 km, and the claimed fuel consumption with a depleted battery is 4.4 liters per 100 km.
The all-wheel-drive variant focuses not only on efficiency: total power reaches 476 kW, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds.
Pre-sales started on August 13. The regular price ranges from 191,800 to 231,800 yuan, but at launch a subsidy lowers the entry threshold to 181,800 yuan. Thus, the H7 attempts to combine the status of a large executive sedan with the efficiency, technology, and dynamics expected from modern hybrids.
