The issue of providing housing to citizens queuing for state housing remains one of the most pressing in Kazakhstan. Currently, about half a million people are on this list, and according to preliminary estimates, they could receive their square meters only after ten years. However, as it turned out, the situation may change for the better in a shorter time, reports infohub.kz.

At a briefing at the government, the chairperson of the management board of Otbasy Bank, Lyazzat Ibragimova, presented an optimistic forecast. According to her, the bank has clear plans for issuing credit housing: within the next five years, it plans to issue about 300,000 such loans. As for rental housing, the pace will depend on construction and provision of housing. This year, the pace is very high – more than 12,000 units. If this dynamic continues, the task of providing rental housing can be solved in about 5-8 years.

Ibragimova also noted that for those who do not want to wait and participate in the competition, there is the "Nauryz" program with a rate of 7%. This could be an alternative for many queue members.

In addition, the head of Otbasy Bank commented on a possible revision of the terms of preferential mortgages following a recommendation from the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market (ARDFM). Earlier, the agency stated that preferential mortgages are used by Kazakhstanis who could take out loans at market rates, and proposed increasing the targeting of such programs so that civil servants and people with average salaries receive them more often.

Lyazzat Ibragimova emphasized that the bank adheres to the principle that all disbursements depend on deposit inflows. These inflows are formed by Kazakh families. Under the "50/50" programs, conditions should remain unchanged, because despite high base rates, the bank competes on deposits with commercial banks that accrue 18% per annum, while a depositor of Otbasy Bank holds a deposit at 2% and receives a minimal state premium. Therefore, conditions must be unchanged. Everything related to intermediate and housing loans is planned to remain unchanged.
