Automotive design specialists have unveiled a concept for a sporty wagon based on the Hyundai Elantra. In their vision, such a model could serve as a more affordable alternative to premium Audi RS6 Avant and BMW M5 Touring, reports infohub.kz.

The render's creators crafted a virtual Elantra N with an extended roofline and aggressive body kit. The front end retains the model's signature styling but is enhanced with larger air intakes, a front splitter with red accents, and a wider track. Large alloy wheels and red brake calipers complete the look.

The rear of the concept features a prominent spoiler, diffuser, and quad exhaust tips. If such a vehicle were to enter production, it could carve out a niche in the affordable sport wagon segment.

The key technical highlight of the hypothetical Elantra N would be a new 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, replacing the current 2.0-liter unit. According to Carscoops, the motor could produce up to 330 horsepower and around 422 Nm of torque. Drive would likely remain front-wheel, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

However, the main obstacle to such a project is potentially low demand. Wagons are gradually becoming a niche segment as buyers increasingly favor crossovers. Carscoops notes that Hyundai has already officially abandoned the idea of a new wagon, so a production Elantra N Wagon is not expected.

Earlier reports indicated that the new eighth-generation Hyundai Elantra set a record for first-day orders.
