In Ust-Kamenogorsk, law enforcement has cracked down on the illegal sale of potent substances disguised as ordinary weight-loss dietary supplements on the Wildberries marketplace. An investigation has been launched into the matter, reports infohub.kz.
Additionally, in the Zaisan district, employees of a local medical organization were found to be directly selling narcotic and strictly prescription drugs to patients, bypassing the law.
The circulation of medicines in the region is under special scrutiny by the prosecutor's office of East Kazakhstan region. The supervisory body works in coordination with law enforcement and specialized agencies.
"Under the coordination of the regional prosecutor's office, during 2025-2026, three criminal cases have been initiated and 21 administrative protocols have been drawn up for illegal drug precursor trafficking, with total fines exceeding 4 million tenge," the prosecutor's office reported.
The prosecutor's office of East Kazakhstan region emphasizes that uncontrolled use of specific medications and self-medication pose a direct threat to the lives and health of citizens. The supervisory authority has issued an official statement urging medical and pharmaceutical workers to strictly adhere to the rules for dispensing prescription drugs, and parents to categorically refuse to purchase any medications without a doctor's prescription.
