In Astana, police are continuing their crackdown on illegal soil extraction, which causes serious environmental damage and alters the natural landscape. The latest case of illegal subsoil use was uncovered in the Nura district, where trucks and heavy machinery were used to haul away soil. Following the inspection, all vehicles involved were sent to a specialized impound lot, reports infohub.kz.
The capital is conducting systematic work to identify and stop illegal soil extraction. Police note that such violations cause significant harm to the environment, change the natural landscape, and negatively affect the city's ecological situation.
According to law enforcement, unauthorized land development leads to deep pits that later fill with water, disrupting the natural terrain, degrading land quality, and creating additional environmental risks.
“Another case of illegal subsoil use was detected after a report came in on the '102' hotline. According to available information, illegal soil extraction and removal were taking place in the Nura district, near the racetrack close to Karkaraly Street,” said the capital's police department.
Police officers arriving at the scene found a group of people loading and transporting soil using heavy machinery and trucks.
“During the inspection, officers identified three Shacman trucks driven by citizens aged 22, 26, and 39. Additionally, a tracked excavator without license plates was on site, operated by a 30-year-old driver. A Chery Tiggo driven by a 35-year-old man was also found,” Astana police reported.
All vehicles used in the offense were impounded at a municipal lot. Further investigation into the illegal subsoil use is underway, and those responsible will be held accountable under Kazakhstan's laws.
Police emphasized that efforts to detect such violations are ongoing. Law enforcement urged citizens and organizations to comply with subsoil use legislation, follow landscaping rules, and protect the environment.
