Kelsey Mitchell scored 28 points, with 20 in the first half, and Caitlin Clark added 22 points and 10 assists. Indiana has won seven of its last nine games. This victory came after coach Stephanie White's 2.5-minute pregame speech, in which she defended herself and criticized the distractions she believes have overshadowed the WNBA.
Indiana shot 59% from the field and 79% from three-point range, taking a 64-46 halftime lead. New York had gone 8-1 since losing to Indiana by 20 points in mid-July, but this time the Fever did not let a double-digit lead slip away, unlike their previous game against Las Vegas.
Mitchell was 11-of-16 from the field. She, Clark, and Sophie Cunningham each made four three-pointers. Indiana finished with 16 three-pointers on 25 attempts. Cunningham scored 12 points, and Aliyah Boston added 19 points and seven rebounds.
For the Liberty, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu each scored 19 points, and Jonquel Jones had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Indiana took control with a 15-7 run late in the second quarter, extending the lead to 54-37.
When Indiana's three-pointers stopped falling in the third quarter, New York cut the deficit to 66-57 with 6:51 left. But the Fever recovered, and Mitchell's three-point play and Cunningham's three-pointer in the final minute of the period made it 87-67. Indiana never let the game get close again.
