Botagoz Seitova, a resident of Astana, reported that during a trip with inDrive, the driver refused to turn down the music despite her repeated requests. According to the woman, she had recently undergone surgery and was suffering from a severe headache, reports infohub.kz.
The conflict over the music occurred in the car. The passenger posted a video of the incident on social media. In the recording, she can be heard asking to lower the volume, but the conversation quickly turns into an argument.
“I started recording after many requests to turn off the music. I felt unwell. Even if a client just doesn't want to ride and listen to the driver's songs? The driver is aggressive, he deliberately provokes emotions,” the Astana resident wrote.
After the publication, Kursiv contacted inDrive's press service for comment. The company noted that in such situations, drivers should respond to passengers' requests and not engage in arguments. “Respectful communication and attentive attitude to users' wishes are an important part of the service's standards,” the company commented.
What did the service decide after the check? inDrive clarified that after an internal review, measures were taken against the driver in accordance with the platform's rules. The company also attempted to contact the passenger to discuss the situation and intends to continue trying to reach her.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that inDrive, together with the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, launched a free online course for taxi drivers and couriers on communicating with women. The company said that the course may be assigned to drivers who have received complaints about inappropriate behavior or communication with female passengers.
