A 36-year-old foreign national was sentenced to 12 days of administrative arrest after causing a disturbance aboard a flight from Moscow to Astana. The man disrupted public order, refused to comply with crew instructions, and used obscene language toward other passengers, according to infohub.kz.
As reported by NUR.KZ, citing Polisia.kz, after the aircraft landed at Astana Airport, the offender was handed over to transport police officers under a formal report.
"Transport police established that a 36-year-old foreign citizen, who was intoxicated, violated public order: he failed to comply with crew members' instructions and used obscene language toward other passengers," said Kurmet Mazhikenov, deputy head of the Transport Police Department.
According to the information media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the offender was held accountable on several counts at once: petty hooliganism, drinking alcohol or appearing in public places while intoxicated, and violating rules of conduct aboard an aircraft.
A court ruling ordered the foreign citizen arrested for 12 days. In addition, it was established that within the past year the passenger had already been held accountable for alcohol consumption.
"The Transport Police Department warns: an aircraft cabin is an area of heightened responsibility. Failure to comply with crew instructions and aggressive behavior do not go unpunished. Liability for violating established rules is provided for by law," police added.
Earlier, it was reported that a resident of Astana was arrested for 10 days after he behaved aggressively aboard a plane and refused to follow police instructions.
