A Russian citizen who had earlier alleged a gang rape in Qonaev has recorded a video statement and posted it on the social network Threads. In her statement, the young woman retracted her previous claims that police officers were involved in the crime, according to infohub.kz.

According to the foreigner, her earlier information that the attackers were law enforcement officers is not true.

"A terrible crime was committed against me; I was raped by two men who identified themselves as police officers. I was misled. The investigation found that one of them turned out to be a criminal... As of today, the people who did bad things to me have been detained. I apologize to the police; I was misinformed," she said.

The young woman added that the police are conducting an objective investigation, and her rights are being protected by a lawyer.

Recall that earlier, the 28-year-old foreigner alleged a gang rape by local police officers in Qonaev. The Police Department of Almaty Region reported that a criminal case was opened and two suspects were detained. Later, the department added that the detainees are not police officers.
