On Knowledge Day, September 1, officers of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs ensured the safety of children and public order during festive events across the country. Police officers and heads of territorial departments were assigned to each educational institution, and patrol units were brought closer to school assembly venues, reports infohub.kz.
Special attention was paid to preventive work. At school assemblies, students were reminded of safe behavior rules, traffic regulations, and responsibility for offenses. In total, Interior Ministry staff conducted over 7,000 lectures and thematic discussions.
For primary school students, special coloring books on traffic rules were prepared. Young traffic inspectors and students of "Jas Sakshy" classes were also involved in preventive activities.
Currently, 264 "Jas Sakshy" classes operate in 238 schools across Kazakhstan, with more than 5,300 students enrolled. Ten more such classes opened on September 1 in Astana, Shymkent, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Mangystau regions, and the Zhetysu region.
Students of "Jas Sakshy" together with police officers conduct preventive activities among their peers and participate in efforts to promote safe and law-abiding behavior.
The Interior Ministry stated that they will continue their work to ensure the safety of children in and around schools.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that before the start of the school year, the Interior Ministry inspected the safety of schools and road infrastructure near them. In 7,656 schools across the country, more than 283,000 video surveillance cameras have been installed, with 7,159 schools connected to operational management centers or police duty units.
In addition, the Interior Ministry conducted 9,400 inspections of roads near educational institutions. As a result, 258 pedestrian crossings were built, 1,429 speed bumps and 4,854 road signs were installed, as well as more than 10 kilometers of fencing and 1,897 lighting facilities.
