An international baige (horse race) dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet Zhambyl Zhabaev took place in the Almaty Region. More than 150 riders from various regions of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic competed in four disciplines: kunan baige, top baige, batakur baige, and alaman baige. Winners and prize-winners received cars and cash prizes, according to infohub.kz.
In the longest distance — the 25-kilometer alaman baige — Damir Ilesbek from Pavlodar on a horse named "Koksirek" crossed the finish line first. The winner received the top prize, a ROX car. The horse is owned by Iembergen Kuantaev, and its trainer is Kanat Dolotbakov.
Almaskhan Bazyrbek from Zhambyl Region on the horse "Baktory" took second place and was awarded 2 million tenge. Mansur Alizhan from Astana on the horse "Kemenger" finished third, receiving 1.5 million tenge. Amir Seraly from the village of Kokbastau in Zhambyl District, riding the horse "Zhelkonyr," placed fourth.
In the 16-kilometer top baige, Merei Garipullin from Balkhash District of Almaty Region on the horse "Orda" won. The main prize was a Hyundai Palisade. The horse's owner is Altynbay Kasym, and the trainer is Zhambyl Bobekbay.
Adilzhan Askhatuly from Karasai District of Almaty Region on the horse "Sekret" took second place and received 1.5 million tenge. Akhmet Arnur from Almaty on the horse "Tobylgy tory" finished third, earning 1 million tenge. Beibarys Torekhan from the village of Uzynagash in Zhambyl District on the horse "Abadanzor" placed fourth.
In the 11-kilometer kunan baige, Aisultan Samatuly from Balkhash District of Almaty Region on the horse "Bakkara" finished first. The winner was presented with the keys to a Changan X5. The horse's owner is Nazar Altynbay, and the trainer is Zhambyl Bobekbay.
Yersultan Zharkyn on the horse "Erkezhiren" took second place, receiving 1 million tenge. Amir Seraly on the horse "Sulu kaska" finished third and won 700,000 tenge. Umar Talantov from the Kyrgyz Republic on the horse "Baila" placed fourth, and Daryn Berish from Zhetisu Region on the horse "Bairak" fifth.
In the batakur baige, Serzhan Bakytbay from Astana on the horse "Bomaro" won. The horse's owner and trainer is Nurzhigit Tabyldiev. Temirlan Aidarkhanov from the village of Akainar in Zhambyl District on the horse "Gaukhartas" took second place. Damir Ilesbek from Pavlodar on the horse "Tarlan" finished third.
Alongside the international baige, regional tournaments in Kazakh kuresi, asyk atu, lyanga, arm wrestling, and kettlebell sport were held. In total, more than 300 people participated in the sports competitions.
The international baige was organized as part of the anniversary events dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet Zhambyl Zhabaev.
