Iranian security forces detained two employees of the French embassy in Tehran, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on social media platform X, as reported by infohub.kz.

"They were held without justification for several hours, interrogated, and one of them was subjected to rough treatment. They eventually managed to return to the embassy, where they are now safe," the minister wrote. Barrot said the diplomats will return to France in the coming hours, calling the incident "an act of intimidation" and "a violation of diplomatic immunity." According to him, the detainees were in Iran implementing French programs to support civil society.
