Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament's commission on national security and foreign policy, has rejected reports that Tehran is allegedly considering the use of chemical weapons, infohub.kz reports.

The Iranian lawmaker's comment came in response to a publication by the American newspaper The New York Times. Citing unnamed officials, the outlet reported that Israel had passed intelligence to the United States about possible Iranian plans to use chemical weapons against its adversaries.

"Accusations, lies, distortion of reality and presenting it upside down — that is what Israel is known for. There is no doubt about it," the Iranian parliamentarian said of the newspaper's report.

Recall that the United States and Israel began striking targets in Iran on February 28, to which the Iranian side responded with its own strikes. Although the conflict has seen a lull, it remains unresolved, and there are risks that hostilities could resume.
