Tehran is ready to attack tankers not only in the Strait of Hormuz but also on other oil supply routes in the region, reports infohub.kz.
As reported by RBC citing IRNA, Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei has threatened to block oil shipments from the Persian Gulf if regional countries support US sanctions against Tehran.
According to him, Iran cannot allow Persian Gulf states to side with the US, thereby harming the interests of the Islamic Republic, while still being able to export oil from the Gulf.
Rezaei stated that in such a case, Iran would not allow "a single drop of oil to be exported not only through the Strait of Hormuz but from the Persian Gulf as a whole." "At the moment, we have closed the Strait of Hormuz and are not targeting oil from the Persian Gulf because it is exported via other routes, but we will target it as well," he warned.
Rezaei also noted that Washington would ultimately abandon those countries that sided with it in the conflict. He urged not to think that the US would sacrifice its soldiers' lives for Arab countries to the very end.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the start of a "crushing economic operation" against Iran and issued a warning to other countries.
