Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said his country is ready to facilitate the departure of Palestinians from the war-torn Gaza Strip if Washington gives its consent, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to the defense chief, without relocating the population, it is impossible to find a "real solution" to the enclave's problem. He also noted that U.S. President Donald Trump has not abandoned his idea to relocate about two million Gaza residents to Egypt and Jordan, but has only temporarily suspended its implementation due to pressure from Arab states.
"Trump has not given up on his idea; he has only paused it," Katz stressed, adding that the plan is still on the table and continues to be discussed, including at present.
At the same time, the forced displacement of civilians from occupied territory is prohibited by the Geneva Conventions and constitutes a war crime. Palestinian leaders and neighboring Arab countries, including Egypt and Jordan, categorically reject any relocation plans, viewing them as an attempt to finally eliminate the Palestinian issue.
