Kazakhstan has announced prices for two new locally produced Jaecoo crossovers — the compact J5 and the plug-in hybrid J7 PHEV. Both models are built at the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan plant in Almaty, according to infohub.kz.
The Jaecoo J5 is the smallest crossover from the Chery sub-brand. In Kazakhstan, it is offered in Luxury trim with a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 147 hp and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The cabin features an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch vertical infotainment screen. Equipment includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel, fast-charging USB-C, and a power tailgate.
The manufacturer also claims the interior uses scratch-resistant, easy-to-clean materials and a multi-stage air purification system.
The plug-in hybrid Jaecoo J7 PHEV is priced at 12.8 million tenge. It features the SHS hybrid system with a 1.5-liter turbo engine, an electric motor, and a 1DHT transmission. Combined output reaches 347 hp, with maximum torque of 525 Nm.
The J7 PHEV can travel up to 91 km on electric power alone, and its claimed total range exceeds 1,200 km. The 18.3 kWh battery supports fast charging from 30 to 80% in about 20 minutes.
The first Kazakhstan-assembled OMODA and JAECOO vehicles rolled off the AMMKZ line in September. According to Astana Motors CEO Beknur Nesipbayev, the company aims to produce around 2,000 vehicles of these brands by the end of 2026, and up to 10,000 in 2027.
The multi-brand plant also produces models for Chery, Great Wall Motor, and Changan. In total, Astana Motors plans to build around 60,000 vehicles at the facility in 2026, and about 100,000 the following year.
