A major livestock theft has been solved in Kazakhstan's Jambyl Region: a farm owner lost 250 head of small livestock worth a total of 30 million tenge, and three suspects were detained with the support of special forces, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the regional police department, in Merke District a farm owner discovered during a headcount that 250 head of small livestock were missing and turned to the police.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched under the article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Cattle theft committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy on an especially large scale."
During operational-search measures, police officers found part of the stolen livestock in Turar Ryskulov District. After an identification procedure, the animals were returned to their rightful owner.
The investigation established that a shepherd who worked on the farm may have been involved in the theft. "According to police, he entered into a prior conspiracy with other individuals and took part in the theft of the livestock. It also emerged that some of the stolen animals were subsequently sold to other persons for 800,000 tenge," the Jambyl Region police department said.
Three suspects have been detained in the criminal case. With a court sanction, they have been placed under arrest for two months.
Investigative actions are currently ongoing, aimed at a comprehensive, complete and objective establishment of all circumstances of the criminal case.
