In Japan, a wearable device has been developed to help people cope with the summer heat. Named the Human Refrigerator, it is designed to protect workers and couriers who have to toil outdoors in extreme conditions, reports infohub.kz.
Japanese equipment manufacturer LIXIL, together with partners, has unveiled an innovative cooling vest that actively lowers skin temperature. The device is intended to prevent heatstroke among construction workers, couriers, and road maintenance staff who work outside in the summer heat.
The design features a special vest with flexible tubes through which a cooling liquid circulates. Additionally, a portable compressor unit is attached to the belt. Unlike traditional fan-equipped vests that merely blow hot air over the body when temperatures are high, the Human Refrigerator provides continuous cooling.
The system is powered by a compact battery that allows for several hours of autonomous operation. The developers hope that the new device will become an effective means of protection against the record temperatures increasingly recorded around the world.
