Actor and 30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto has lost his role in the new thriller "Assassination" amid numerous allegations of sexual misconduct that have resurfaced in recent weeks, according to infohub.kz.
According to Page Six, the actor was in active negotiations to join the film directed by Barry Levinson as early as 2025. The deal was nearly finalized, but producers ultimately decided to drop Leto.
It is believed that the project's leadership discussed the allegations against the actor early in the talks. As their number grew, the studio chose not to continue the collaboration.
An additional factor may have been the weak box office performance of "Tron: Ares," in which Leto played the lead role. However, one source believes that this only made the decision to drop the actor easier.
The film "Assassination" will tell the story of journalist Dorothy Kilgallen, who investigated the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy and died under mysterious circumstances. The main roles are played by Bryan Cranston and Brendan Fraser. It is not yet known who will replace Jared Leto.
