Streaming service Netflix has officially announced a crime revenge thriller titled Dogfight, starring Jason Statham, with Guy Ritchie directing and writing the screenplay, infohub.kz reports.
For the British director and the popular actor, it marks a return to the genre that brought them worldwide fame: audiences can expect a stylish, fast-paced revenge action film set in the criminal underworld of modern London. Shooting is due to begin in the United Kingdom in early 2027.
Ritchie will not only direct and write the script but also serve as one of the film's key producers. Production will be handled by Ritchie's own Toff Guy Films, Statham's Punch Palace Productions and the independent studio Black Bear Pictures, which has backed many of the director's recent releases. Ritchie and Statham are joined on the producing team by their longtime associates Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg. Additional cast and a release date have not yet been announced.
Dogfight will be the seventh feature film Ritchie and Statham have made together. Their creative partnership began back in 1998 with the cult black comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, which was the debut for both filmmakers. They later released such popular films as Snatch, Revolver, Wrath of Man and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, and have completed production on the thriller Mutiny. The new project promises to return the duo to the gritty aesthetic of British crime bosses.
